This excellent museum, founded in 1982 and located near the Kokaido in the heart of Nakanoshima, features numerous works that are mainly Chinese and Korean in origin and exhibits national treasures among its many pieces on display. The facility uses the latest in lighting and display technology to provide the best possible experience for visitors. About 1,000 years ago, this area of Osaka was the location of an important port where ceramics were imported from other parts of Asia and the museum helps maintain this important cultural aspect of the surrounding district. The museum also has a "Tea Salon" with coffee, various teas, light meals and snacks. Written explanation in exhibitions are in English and Japanese.
